 The Works

The Vulcan Magazine contains a  wealth of original information on locomotives produced between the late 1940's and the early 1960's and provides a fascinating insight into everyday life at the foundry.
Ever fancy a career building Steam Locomotives, if so check out the apprenticeship brochure.
The brown book contains photographs and details for many of the locomotives produced prior to 1920.

Original locomotive lists currently detail all the locomotives ever produced by the Vulcan foundry up to the end of 1961.

Small donations via paypal are really appreciated as this helps to fund recovery of Vulcan related paper ephemera for the site and thus greatly assists the expansion of online content freely available to all visitors.

This site relies extensively on contributed material, if you have any Vulcan material suitable for the site then please contact me as this a shared historical resource that anyone who is interested can read. In other words an electronic museum open 24/7 where the archive does not deteriorate through handling and everything is on display and not hidden away. Over 90% of the material we currently receive is suitable for use on the site and though it takes time for me to compile and you to browse through it can be found within these pages.
